Scunthorpe defender Rob Jones looks set to be fit in time to face Sheffield United on Saturday.

The centre-half suffered a hamstring injury five minutes from the end of the defeat to Plymouth two weeks ago but appears to have made a speedy recovery.

"Rob Jones is fit, firing and has trained well this week," manager Nigel Adkins, who should also have David Mirfin available after injury, told the club's official website.

Adkins also denied that the fortnight break will have a negative effect on his squad, commenting: "All the lads are buzzing - I expect the lads who have come back from international duty to be on a high.

"The rest of the boys have worked really hard too - it's been a good ten days for us."
