Iron wait on Murphy scan

Scunthorpe United goalkeeper Joe Murphy is waiting to find out the extent of the thigh injury he sustained during the weekend 1-1 draw at Cardiff City.

The 26-year-old Irishman was injured during the warm-up at Ninian Park and was eventually replaced at half-time, having struggled for much of the opening 45 minutes.

He told the Evening Telegraph: "The problem is quite low down the thigh and it wasn't from kicking the ball. It happened when I took off for a dive.

"The physio was a little bit worried about it, but we will just have to wait and see. Hopefully just a week's rest and it will be all right again.

"I was struggling a bit at Cardiff. Maybe I shouldn't have started, but I wanted to.

"I just felt it was getting worse in the first half and I felt it would be better for myself and the team just to leave it in the second half.

"It was stiffening up a bit as the first half progressed and when I went up on my toes there was a bit of a shooting pain."
