Iron's Donaldson bid fails
24 Jan 2007 - 09:52:41
Scunthorpe United have had a renewed bid for York City striker Clayton Donaldson rejected by the Conference side.
The League One promotion chasers have money to spend after Andy Keogh's £600,000 switch to Wolves was completed earlier this week, but the Minstermen are unwilling to let the Conference's top scorer leave.
"We've made a substantial bid, but it's been rejected," said Iron manager Nigel Adkins.
York are demanding £500,000 for Donaldson, who is currently serving a three-match ban following his dismissal at Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday.
Peterborough United and Accrington Stanley have also had bids for the striker rejected this month, with City boss Billy McEwan saying: "My board have been great. They want to keep him until the end of the season and hopefully beyond that."
