    Iron reveal Goodwin blow

    15 Aug 2006 - 11:08:07

Scunthorpe have been rocked by the news midfielder Jim Goodwin is set to be ruled out of action for a while because of the head injury he picked up at Bristol City on the opening day of the League One season.

The 24-year-old has already missed the home draws against Swansea and Crewe after suffering the knock in the 1-0 defeat at Ashton Gate on August 5.

He has since undergone a CT scan on the problem and Iron physio Nigel Adkins revealed the Irishman now faces a spell on the sidelines.

He said: "Jim Goodwin had to stay down after the Bristol game following his head injury and has followed this up with a CT scan and assessment with a facial consultant in Bradford.

"Jim looks like being out for several weeks."

Scunthorpe have already lost striker Ramon Calliste for six months following an ankle injury picked up in pre-season, while Andy Butler faces another six weeks on the sidelines as he recovers from a dislocated shoulder.
