Iron reject Paterson request

Scunthorpe United have moved quickly to reject Martin Paterson's transfer request.

The 21-year-old striker, who has been the subject of two failed bids for his services from Burnley this summer, scored 14 goals as the Iron were relegated from the Championship in the season just ended.

Several other clubs have been linked with the former Stoke City youngster who only moved to Glanford Park last summer.

But United's vice-chairman Rex Garton confirmed to the club's official website: "Martin Paterson has put in a written transfer request to the club but has been advised, through his agent, that the request is turned down."
