    Iron reject Blades claim

    29 Jun 2007 - 12:58:36

Scunthorpe United have rejected claims that striker Billy Sharp is on the verge of joining Sheffield United.

Blades chairman Terry Robinson suggested a £2million deal for the hot-shot was on the cards earlier in the week, but the Iron have revealed they have not received an approach from their Championship rivals for last season's 32-goal top-scorer.

"We've given permission for Billy to talk to a number of clubs," general manager Jamie Hammond told the club's official website.

"Sheffield United have not made any offer for Billy as far as I'm aware."

Sharp arrived at Glanford Park from Sheffield United in 2005 and scored over 50 goals in his two seasons with the club.

Norwich City, Wolves and Sheffield Wednesday are believed to have tabled bids for the much-coveted striker.
