Scunthorpe United have named Nigel Adkins as the permanent successor to Brian Laws as manager. Adkins has been working in a caretaker capacity since Laws opted to become Sheffield Wednesday boss last month. He has maintained The Iron's excellent start to the season and they are currently second in the League One table after taking seven points from the three games under Adkins' guidance. The former Bangor City manager has signed a one-year deal and will be supported at Glanford Park by Andy Crosby, Ian Baraclough and Tony Daws.
