Scunthorpe United defender Cliff Byrne is delighted with the forward strides the club have been making in recent times and their recent results are true reflections of the progress that is being made.

Home wins against more illustrious opposition in Sheffield United and Newcastle United has created a buzz around the town and Byrne himself is excited at the club's position.

Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "It is an amazing feeling for us.

"The main aim for us is to win our home games and to take the scalp of Newcastle is a big achievement for us.

"I think over the course of 90 minutes we more than matched Newcastle and we had more than one opportunity on the breakaway to secure the win."
