Iron in no rush to sign players

Scunthorpe United coach Ian Baraclough has revealed that the club are wary of signing too many players this summer.

The Iron achieved promotion to the Championship via the League One play-offs in May, but have yet to bring in any new players ahead of the 2009-10 campaign.

Baraclough revealed that manager Nigel Adkins is adopting a cautious approach in the transfer market, as he hopes to keep the same team spirit which won his side promotion.

He told the Scunthorpe Telegraph:"It's important we've got a squad that can cope with the whole season.

"Last time we perhaps fell away at Christmas time because I don't think the strength in depth was there. Hopefully this time we'll have a squad that can last the pace.

"The way we've gone about it is building a squad slowly and methodically. If you look back in history, building teams gradually is the way that it's done.

"Teams that make wholesale changes, and sometimes you have to because people will go out the door, don't seem to do that well immediately."
