Scunthorpe's busy transfer deadline day continued, with the signing of Jon Parkin on loan from Cardiff City and free agent Gibbons.

Parkin, 30, is on a one-month loan while Gibbons has agreed an 18-month contract.The Iron were also hoping to complete the loan signing of defender David Mirfin from before the 11pm deadline, with Iron-Bru.net sources indicating the paperwork had been completed on time.A deal had hinged on whether his parent club Watford would allow him to leave, with the future of their centre-back Adrian Mariappa in doubt.But he played for the Hornets against Millwall, and looked set to stay put.
