Iron add McCann to ranks

Scunthorpe United have added Barnsley midfielder Grant McCann to their ranks for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old has penned and two-and-a-half year contract at Glanford Park and is manager Nigel Adkins' fifth signing of the transfer window.

The former West Ham and Cheltenham midfielder has made 22 appearances for the Tykes this season.

Meanwhile, Adkins is hoping the likes of McCann and fellow experienced signing Kevin Horlock can help the club in their bid to move out of he Championship relegation zone.

"We need everybody to keep their heads steady. The outside influences of the media and supporters, and the pressures that come from the situation we are in are massive," he told the club's official website.

"With more experience we can help the younger players.

"We only had two players over the age of 25 in the building so it will help the group dynamic."
