Hooper to miss Vale clash

Leading marksman Gary Hooper will miss Scunthorpe United's League Cup third round clash against Port Vale on Tuesday night due to injury.

The five-goal striker was forced out of the action late on Saturday during his side's 1-1 draw at Bristol City after hurting his hamstring and will definitely miss the clash.

Although the former Southend man misses out, it will give others the opportunity to impress.

Speaking to reporters, manager Nigel Adkins said: "Gary came off at the weekend with a hamstring injury and he won't be fit for the game.

"Gary Hooper's absence gives Jonathan Forte the opportunity to start another game."
