Scunthorpe United striker provided the perfect tonic for the side after scoring a last-gasp winner to sink Barnsley in their Championship clash on Tuesday night.

The frontman kept his cool and slotted home at the death to move the Iron four points outside the relegation zone.

With another two home games ahead of them - against Watford and Ipswich Town - in the coming week, Hayes has challenged his team-mates to secure maximum points and ease any relegation fears.

Speaking to reporters, he said: "I said before the game this was the biggest week of our season.

"If we can get maximum points in the next two games, it will give us a massive breather.

"We have to win our home games and getting the result against Barnsley takes that little bit more pressure off us."
