Departing Butler sad to leave

Scunthorpe United defender Andy Butler is on the verge of ending his long association with the club after rejecting a new contract offer.

The 24-year-old, who made his debut for the Iron almost five years ago, has made more than 150 first-team appearances for the club but insists now is the right time to leave Glanford Park.

He told the club's official website: "It's gutting to leave - this is like a second home, but this is the right move for me and my family."

Butler also spent a brief spell on loan with Grimsby Town in October 2006, making five appearances for the Mariners.
