Scunthorpe United defender Cliff Byrne has failed with an appeal to have his red card from Saturday's draw with Oldham Athletic overturned.
The 24-year-old came on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw, but was dismissed for his 61st minute challenge on winger Chris Taylor.
Just three minutes later the Iron were reduced to nine men when Cleveland Taylor got his marching orders for a second bookable offence.
Byrne will now serve a three-match suspension starting with Tuesday trip to Cheltenham Town.
