Scunthorpe United boss Nigel Adkins wants his side to learn from their mistakes after crashing to a 3-0 Championship defeat at leaders Newcastle United on Wednesday night.
Andy Carroll's brace and a Peter Lovenkrands effort secured the comfortable win and Adkins wants his players to come out fighting in their crucial games against Plymouth and Peterborough as they try and stave off relegation.
He said: "We knew coming here was going to be a massive challenge for everybody.
"The players have been able to see how hard they've got to work, in and out of possession.
"That's the benchmark in Newcastle and it's been good for some of the youngsters to see how much they have got to keep improving and not think they have made it.
"To be 2-0 down after 20 minutes, you would have probably thought Newcastle would have run away with it, but credit to the players, they've only gone and lost the second half 1-0."
