Adkins relishes Iron victory

Manager Nigel Adkins was pleased with his Scunthorpe United side's display in their hard-fought 2-1 victory at Bristol Rovers.

Goals from Grant McCann and Izzy Iriekpen sent the Iron back to the top of League One, with Adkins upbeat after witnessing a battling performance.

He told the Evening Telegraph: "Credit to Bristol Rovers because they've been on a good run at home and they gave it a real go.

"But we're on a great journey and it's good to be top of the league again. All we can do is keep winning our games and try to get promoted any way we can.

"I was really pleased with the way we saw the game out. I thought our game management was good.

"It was a different side to our game we showed and we proved we can see out a game."
