Adkins pleased with Iron will

Scunthorpe United manager Nigel Adkins was delighted to see his side end a run of five games without a win with a 2-1 home success against Stockport County.

Goals from Kevan Hurst and Gary Hooper gave the Iron a much-needed three points and lifted them back into the play-off places.

Adkins told the Evening Telegraph: "They were three excellent, well deserved points, which I am very pleased about.

"We've had a little bit of misfortune going against us results wise, but we've put in a good solid performance.

"For the first 15 minutes I thought we were top drawer. We set our stall out, tactically we were bang on and we scored two great goals.

"I'm very, very happy that a group of players who worked very, very hard got their just rewards."
