Scunthorpe United boss Nigel Adkins believes that his squad is better equipped to try and survive in the Championship than it was two seasons ago.
The Iron made an immediate return to the second tier of English football thanks to a play-off final win over Millwall, with Adkins upbeat for the coming campaign.
He told the Evening Telegraph: "I believe we have a better group now than two years ago.
"Most of them are under contract, but I'm well aware that we need to add to that squad to give ourselves the best opportunity of still being a Championship team in 12 months' time.
"We have to make sure the finances available are utilised properly.
"We sat down last week to draw up plans and obviously there are going to be different viewpoints about the finances coming into the building.
"As manager I have to try and push for as much money as I can to strengthen the squad."
