Adkins hails resolute Iron

Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins hailed his side`s effort after they picked up a 1-0 win at QPR.

Garry Thompson`s late finish gave the Iron a valuable win against a Rangers side dogged by off-the-field controversy.

But Adkins said: "What's happening at other clubs is nothing to do with us. We concentrate on ourselves and what we need to do.

"It's a great victory for us and another excellent three points away from home. The players have been absolutely magnificent.

"It was our third match in six days, and credit to the players for showing great professionalism . They got themselves re-hydrated and have shown a great attitude.

"We're hardworking and are endeavouring to do the best we can. We've got a close-knit group of players who just work very hard for each other. I can't underline how proud I am of such an honest, hardworking group of professionals, who yet again have won against the odds."
