Scunthorpe United boss Nigel Adkins is confident that new signing Michael Raynes will prove to be a big hit at Glanford Park.
The 22-year-old central defender joined the Iron for an undisclosed fee from Stockport County, penning a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Iron.
Adkins told the Evening Telegraph: "He is a young player with a wealth of experience. He was a young age to be captain at Stockport, with a burden of expectation on him.
"He has an old head on a young pair of shoulders. His enthusiasm and attitude is top-class and he has good organisational skills.
"The paperwork did not go through until three minutes to five on Monday afternoon.
"It was a delicate situation. The deal had to be right for this club and I am pleased to say that it is the right deal."
