Adkins hails Iron survival

Scunthorpe United manager Nigel Adkins was ecstatic after his side fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 at home to Reading to secure their survival in the Championship.

Goals in the last ten minutes at Glanford Park from Gary Hooper and Matt Sparrow ensured that the Iron are safe, with Adkins beaming: "Winning promotion to this level twice were big achievements.

"But staying up is a fantastic achievement. It's like swimming the Channel, doing the Tour De France and then climbing Everest.

"It's a fantastic achievement for Scunthorpe to stay in the Championship.

"It's about the team. Our strongest asset is the team.

"We can now go into our last two games of the season and relax, but we want to win them both to finish as high as we can."
