Scunthorpe United boss Nigel Adkins was delighted with his side's performance after a 1-0 home win over Bristol City took the Iron back to the top of League One.
A Billy Sharp goal on his 21st birthday shortly before half-time proved to be the crucial blow and Adkins was full of praise for his players.
He said: "Bristol City are a top team, we knew we had to deal with them from set-pieces and to get the ball back from them when they were on it.
"I'm delighted, all the players were totally committed to the cause. They've gone out and worked hard on a cold frosty night, playing on a pitch not suitable for football.
"There is a belief among the players that's been there right from the start of pre-season.
"The players work really hard for each other to create opportunities and Billy Sharp's goal on his birthday was the icing on the cake."
