Scunthorpe United boss Nigel Adkins hopes that Geoff Horsfield can grab the goals that keep the Iron in the Championship, after agreeing a deal to sign the Sheffield United striker on loan until the end of the season.
Adkins has been chasing the 34-year-old for most of January but it had appeared negotiations had broken down.
Earlier in the month, Adkins had told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "I want to bring players in with the same hunger and enthusiasm that we already have in this squad.
"When I looked him in the eye, I could see that Geoff has that hunger. He's kept himself very fit, that's not an issue, and he wants to play football.
"He has a presence about himself and still has a hunger to do well - as he has shown throughout his career. He looks well up for a fight."
Horsfield has scored 78 goals in 302 League appearances for his nine clubs since starting his professional career with Scarborough 16 years ago.
