Adkins cools Iron expectations

Scunthorpe United boss Nigel Adkins has cooled early talk of promotion following his side's 4-1 win at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Summer signing Gary Hooper netted a hat-trick as the Iron moved up to fourth place in the fledgling League One table.

"It's still early days as we all know," Adkins told the club's official website.

"When we won the title two years ago it took us six games to get our first win, so we're ahead of schedule on that.

"We can't get carried away, we've got to take one step at a time and keep going through the principles - controlling the controllables."
