Adkins: Iron remain strong

06 Apr 2007 - 12:52:54

Scunthorpe United boss Nigel Adkins is confident his side can retain their focus and earn promotion to the Championship.

The Iron are currently four points clear of Bristol City at the top of the League One table on the back of an 18-match unbeaten run and Adkins believes his side has the necessary self-belief to finish off the job and seal promotion.

"The players have worked very hard since pre-season began in July. We are not going to take our foot off the pedal now," he told the club's official website.

"We will continue to work hard in training, concentrate on our preparation for each game and remain focused on what we want to achieve.

"Our squad of players are in good shape as we enter the Easter weekend. Competition for places is fierce, but the squad all know it is not about the eleven players or the individual.

"Everyone has made a valuable contribution along our journey and we will remain strong as a team supporting each another."
