Tykes boss content to take a point

In a disappointing 1-1 draw at Oakwell in the Championship on Wednesday night, the Tykes went one up when Hugo Colace swept the ball home shortly after the break.[LNB]But the joy was short-lived and Scunthorpe levelled just six minutes later when Paul Hayes - who spent two years at the South Yorkshire club - headed home at the back post to earn his side a share of the spoils.[LNB]But Robins was pleased to see his men extend their unbeaten run to five games, without performing to their potential.[LNB]"It was very flat, I don't think it will bring the supporters back," said Robins.[LNB]"It's the first time we have played like that for a long time. But I can't criticise them too much.[LNB]"Sometimes you've got to say 'it's another point on the board' and when you've not played well it's a good point at that."[LNB]Maltese striker Daniel Bogdanovic was at the centre of everything that Barnsley did well and he was surprisingly substituted midway through the second half.[LNB]But Robins revealed that he is protecting Bogdanovic for a busy schedule ahead.[LNB]"Bogdanovic has had a tight groin for a couple of days," he said.[LNB]"He's not had a lot of practice and that's in the back of your mind. There's a lot of games coming up at Christmas and you have to try and protect what you have got because you can't bring anyone in at this stage."[LNB]Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins believes his decision to work with a small squad is paying dividends after they fought back for a point.[LNB]Adkins has one of the smallest playing staffs - in terms of numbers and budgets - in the division and he believes the team spirit is high as a result.[LNB]"I have tried to keep a small squad of players and not enhance it any further for the simple reason that we have got a great team spirit," Adkins said.[LNB]"They have shown that tonight. After going behind they showed great commitment and desire.[LNB]"We will keep supporting the players. We have got a good cohesive unit of players who are working very hard for each other and long may that continue."[LNB]Adkins changed his system for the clash, flooding the midfield with five players.[LNB]He added: "We came to make sure we got something. It is a way that we can work and it's a very big pitch so if you don't pack the midfield you leave yourselves very open to a team that have been bang in form.[LNB]"But we know playing this way is not negative."[LNB][LNB]
