Scunthorpe United's midfield duo Sam Togwell and Michael O'Connor collected the majority of the player of the season awards. Togwell won the main award, the Ernie Storey Memorial Trophy, collecting the most votes from Scunthorpe United supporters.  Michael O'Connor, who finished the season top scorer with nine goals, scooped up five of the six left on offer. There was also an award for January signing Michael Nelson, who was presented the accolade by the Official supporters club, who also presented Ashley Palmer, the young centre back, the junior award. The Irish Iron decided against awarding the annual accolade, deciding it would be more appropriate to invest the money into player sponsorship next season.
