#TeamVerrico Collection

25 November 2013 12:17
The Iron Trust and Iron-Bru.net have responded to requests from United supporters, to launch a further collection in memory of fan Anna Verrico.

Anna passed away last week, just days after leading out the first-team with her children ahead of the League Two game against Accrington Stanley. A bucket collection raised £1,500, matched by club chairman Peter Swann, towards pioneering treatment which could have saved her from the rare form of breast cancer which was ravaging her body. Unfortunately that treatment is no longer required, with the money raised instead being held in trust until her two young children, Lucia and Alessandro, reach 18. After a request from a user of the Iron-Bru.net messageboard to arrange a collection to fund a brick in the Centenary Wall at Glanford Park in Anna’s memory, the website and Trust have partnered to launch the appeal. Scunthorpe United have agreed to donate the brick, so all money can go to the family. Trust board member Luke Thornhill said: “Anna and her family made a huge impression on our supporters, and we were so pleased our fans could help make one of her final days a good one. “A Trust member suggested the collection, which we were happy to arrange, and SUFC have agreed to donate space in the Centenary Wall so all money raised from this will go to the family. “Anyone who would like to donate towards the collection can go to www.theirontrust.com/annaverrico where there are full details.” Iron supporters are welcome to attend a memorial service for Anna to be held at Glanford Park at 12noon on Friday November 29. FULL PAYMENT DETAILSOnline: we are accepting donations towards the Centenary Wall fund via Paypal, which you can access via www.theirontrust.com/annaverrico, or BACS payments to our account (Scunthorpe United Supporters Society, Account number: 65568383  Sort code: 08-92-99: please mark any payments as VERRICO).
