Striker frustration for Scunthorpe

Scunthorpe have hit a brick wall in their pursuit of Bristol Rovers striker Will Hoskins and Brighton forward Glenn Murray. The Iron are on the look-out for a new goalscorer and Hoskins was thought to be their top target. The 24-year-old has been in impressive form this season having scored 14 goals, but Scunthorpe will now move on having seen three bids rejected. Murray had also been interesting manager Ian Baraclough, but after the Seagulls striker penned a new contract at the Withdean, the Lincolnshire side will again be forced to look elsewhere. Baraclough told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "We have been in three times for Hoskins. We have made what we feel is a fair offer. "I think it is fair to say Rovers, with a new manager just come in, do not want to part with the player. We have now moved on to different targets. The Hoskins interest is dead." On Murray, he added: "Brighton want him to sign a new deal so we've had to move on from him too."
