Spence hails boss Adkins
The Iron are four games unbeaten and are into the fourth round of the Carling Cup for the first time in the club's history.
Spence, on-loan from West Ham until January 17, believes the club's players relish performing under Adkins.
"I'd heard from some of the players who had been on loan here from Premier League clubs and they only had positive things to say about Nigel," he told Scunthorpe's official website.
"He's been fantastic with me and great with the boys. He's a great man-manager and he also knows his football.
"We're all learning from him and hopefully we can repay the favour and get him results."
