Scunthorpe have lost out on resigning club legend Matt Sparrow, who has signed a six month deal with Crawley.

Sparrow agreed to terminate his contract with Brighton to move to their Sussex neighbours.

He joined Brighton in summer 2010 following more than a decade at Glanford Park and Scunthorpe boss Brian Laws was keen for him to return to the club.

"I am settled down here, it was a no brainer really", Sparrow said.

In total he scored eight goals in 58 appearances for the East Sussex club.
