Snow joke for Iron at Pompey

18 December 2010 16:06
Scunthorpe's Championship game at Portsmouth was postponed on Saturday morning as heavy snow affected much of the south and west of the country. A pitch inspection had been scheduled for 10am, but the game was called off before that time as it became clear heavy snowfall meant it was unsafe for supporters to get to Fratton Park. The Iron players were already in the area preparing for the game and were believed to be struggling to return north due to the conditions. Cardiff City's game against Burnley was called off on Friday night, with Watford v Preston and Millwall v Barnsley also unable to go ahead. Only one League One game was played, with Exeter hosting Sheffield Wednesday. All matches in League Two were postponed. All Sunday's Premier League games have also been called off, with only two - Sunderland v Bolton and Blackburn v West Ham - going ahead on Saturday.
