The 20-year-old West Ham striker did not get on the scoresheet at Deepdale but teased and tormented the home defence throughout and earned lavish praise from boss Ian Baraclough.
Sears told Iron Player: "It was a good way to start my time here.
"I thought I did well and we got the right result in the end, which I feel we deserved overall from the start.
"I felt I played well on the night. I caused a lot of problems for Preston.
"I was disappointed not to score but as long as the team win that's all I can ask for."
