Murray Wallace will face Walsall after extending his Scunthorpe stay

Murray Wallace will continue at the heart of the Scunthorpe defence against Walsall after his loan deal was extended.

The Scot came to the end of an initial 28-day deal at the weekend but has signed on for an additional month.

Another loanee, Huddersfield's Joe Lolley, made his debut in the weekend defeat at Southend but faces competition for his starting spot from Kevin van Veen.

Luke Williams (knee), Niall Canavan (ankle) and Stephen Dawson (knee) are all long-term absentees.

Walsall boss Dean Smith could select from an unchanged squad with Isaiah Osbourne not expected to shake off injury in time to face his former club.

Midfielder Osbourne signed a one-year deal with the Saddlers after leaving Scunthorpe at the end of last season, but has yet to make his first appearance for his new club.

Striker Tom Bradshaw returned from a groin strain to play the full 90 minutes in Saturday's home draw against Crewe and should continue, while winger Jordan Cook is pushing for a start.

Second-placed Walsall are chasing their first win in three matches after drawing their last two games 1-1.
