Burton to miss out for Iron

Scunthorpe will be without Deon Burton as they chase their first league win of the season in their home game against Walsall.

The veteran striker will be out for up to eight weeks after damaging his medial knee ligament, but summer signing Billy Kee will return to contention.

Former Burton forward Kee was ineligible for the midweek Capital One Cup defeat to Reading and after two substitute appearances for the Iron is hoping to make his first start.

Boss Russ Wilcox is unlikely to make too many changes after describing his side's display in the narrow defeat to Reading on Tuesday night as the best since he took charge last November.

Mathieu Manset is in line for a Walsall debut after his U-turn in midweek. The striker, who was a free agent, signed a one-year deal with the option of a second on Tuesday, despite the deal collapsing earlier in the summer.

James O'Connor is likely to return from a groin injury while James Chambers' hamstring problem will be monitored,

Sam Mantom will not be available despite the midfielder playing in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Wednesday after a knee injury.

Jordan Cook and Ben Purkiss (both ankle) are not fit but have returned to training.
