Iron could turn to Kee

Scunthorpe striker Billy Kee is hoping to make his first start for the club in the Capital One Cup clash at home to Reading.

Kee has made two substitute appearances for the Iron following his recent transfer from Yeovil and manager Russ Wilcox may opt to rest Deon Burton again as the veteran is nursing a bruised knee.

Neal Bishop played the full 90 minutes in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Yeovil despite a gash above his knee and is expected to resume in midfield, while Sean McAllister is pushing for a recall to the starting line-up.

Bobby Olejnik will be retained in goal following his recent arrival on loan from Peterborough as Sam Slocombe (shoulder) and James Severn (thigh) remain sidelined.

Jordan Obita and Pavel Pogrebnyak are the latest additions to Reading's mounting injury list.

Midfielder Obita is out after suffering a knee injury during Saturday's 4-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest, a match striker Pogrebnyak missed with a calf problem which is likely to keep him sidelined for another week.

They join Hal Robson-Kanu, Stephen Kelly, Danny Williams, Jem Karacan (all knee), Garath McCleary (back) and Danny Guthrie (calf) in an already crowded treatment room.

To add to boss Nigel Adkins' problems ahead of the trip to his old club, new signing Oliver Norwood is cup-tied. But striker Jamie Mackie is available after missing out against Forest under the terms of his loan deal from the City Ground.
