Byrne ready for return

Scunthorpe defender Cliff Byrne could make his first home appearance since returning to the club on loan against Plymouth.

Byrne, who spent nine years at Scunthorpe before his release in the summer of 2012, stepped off the bench in last Friday night's win at Southend after sealing a three-month loan move back at Glanford Park.

Scunthorpe will be without winger Andy Welsh, who requires surgery on his damaged knee, and defender Christian Ribeiro due to a groin injury that will keep him sidelined for at least another month.

Skipper Michael Collins is continuing his rehabilitation after sustaining a knee injury in the defeat at AFC Wimbledon last month.

Plymouth have no fresh injury worries as they look to bounce back from last weekend's drubbing by Wycombe.

Manager John Sheridan has hinted at changes to his Pilgrims side after Wycombe left Home Park with a 3-0 victory on Saturday and he is only missing strikers Nick Chadwick and Matt Lecointe who are recovering from knee injuries.

Midfielder Dominic Blizzard has been suffering with illness but he came through the reserves' 3-1 away win against Exeter on Tuesday unscathed and is likely to be involved.

Argentinian midfielder Andres Gurrieri also featured in that match and he is pushing for a start having been a substitute against the Chairboys.
