Scunthorpe's new signings Kevin van Veen and George Evans are both in contention for the home game against Oldham.

Dutch striker Van Veen, a permanent signing from FC Oss last week, joined up with the squad on Thursday and Evans, on loan from Manchester City, is hoping to make his first start after his cameo role in last week's win at Leyton Orient.

Gary McSheffrey is hoping to continue in midfield after having an injection in his troublesome knee. He scored on his return to the starting line-up last week.

Another recent signing, Luke Daniels, will resume in goal as both Sam Slocombe and James Severn are recovering from broken arms.

Oldham are waiting to hear the extent of Danny Philliskirk's injury ahead of the trip.

The striker limped off towards the end of Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat to Barnsley after a heavy challenge but manager Lee Johnson expects him to pass a late fitness test.

However deadline day arrival Rhys Murphy is set to miss out after suffering a slight groin strain prior to his move from Dagenham.

Elsewhere, Bolton loanee Conor Wilkinson is pushing for a start after coming on as a late substitute in midweek.
