Iron pair hoping to face Cobblers

Scunthorpe pair David Mirfin and Gary McSheffrey hope to return to contention in time for the home game against Northampton.

Defender Mirfin has struggled with illness this week, while winger McSheffrey missed last week's draw at Newport due to a back complaint. Boss Russ Wilcox hopes both can feature on Saturday.

Full-back Andy Dawson, an unused substitute in the last three matches, is still waiting for his first appearance since November after recovering from a hip injury, but striker Deon Burton (calf) remains sidelined.

The Iron will equal their club record of 19 games unbeaten - set during the 2006/7 season - if they avoid defeat on Saturday.

Joe Widdowson will again be assessed ahead of Northampton's trip.

The left-back has missed the club's last two matches due to an ankle injury and will be checked prior to the clash at Glanford Park.

On-loan forward Antonio German is unavailable after returning to parent club Gillingham, while winger Danny Emerton this week departed the Cobblers having seen his contract terminated.

Skipper Lee Collins (foot) has been ruled out for the rest of the season, long-term absentees Kelvin Langmead, Alex Nicholls and Lewis Hornby remain sidelined.
