Iwelumo set for Iron return

Scunthorpe striker Chris Iwelumo is hoping to shake off the effects of illness in time to be included in the squad to face Hartlepool.

Iwelumo has missed the last two games, so manager Brian Laws, who has no new injury or suspension concerns, could start again with on-loan Jimmy Spencer and Sam Winnall up front.

Midfielder Sean McAllister (ankle) played the full 90 minutes on Tuesday night, so teenager Hakeeb Adelakun may have to settle for a place on the bench again.

Skipper Michael Collins is a fortnight away from a return to action after being sidelined since August with knee ligament damage, while defender Eddie Nolan (hamstring) and winger Andy Welsh (knee) are still out.

Hartlepool boss Colin Cooper is expected to name an unchanged starting line-up as his side chase a sixth straight win.

Cooper has no new injury or suspension worries but will still be without winger Jack Compton, who sits out the second game of a three-match ban following his recent dismissal against Plymouth.

Midfield trio Antony Sweeney, Jordan Richards and Brad Walker, plus defender Sam Collins are among those pushing for recalls and veteran striker Steve Howard will hope to be involved.

Pools are unbeaten in their last six away matches in all competitions.
