Jamie Ness doubtful as Scunthorpe look to extend strong start against Gillingham

Scunthorpe will be looking to continue their excellent start to the new Sky Bet League One season when they take on Gillingham at Glanford Park on Saturday.

The Iron are unbeaten in their first three games, with two victories and a draw putting them in third place early on.Midfielder Jamie Ness remains a doubt having missed the 2-1 win over Wimbledon in midweek with a calf injury, a problem which also looks like keeping Irishman Paddy Madden out for a while.Tom Hopper will be keen to continue his great start to the new season having returned from illness and scored his second goal of the campaign against Wimbledon.

Gillingham must do without on-loan Bournemouth striker Joe Quigley for the rest of the season after he suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage.

The 19-year-old, who is yet to make his debut for Bournemouth, featured three times for the Gills this season but will now head back to the Cherries for further treatment after suffering a serious knee injury against Bury.

Forward Rory Donnelly could be in contention to start after he came off the bench and scored to help secure a 1-1 draw against Swindon on Tuesday night, as is former Tottenham and Wolves midfielder Jamie O'Hara.

Midfielder Bradley Dack has been carrying a knee problem, while Scott Wagstaff (calf) continues his recovery, along with defenders Bradley Garmston and Aaron Morris (both knee). Summer signing Lee Martin is a long-term absentee after suffering a serious ankle injury in pre-season.
