Jamie Ness could return for Scunthorpe against Coventry

Scunthorpe midfielder Jamie Ness is hoping to return to action in the home game against Coventry.

Ness sustained a hip injury in the defeat at Wigan last month, but came through a reserve-team run-out in midweek and could be in contention.

Midfielder Jack King and striker Kevin van Veen will both be fit after requiring stitches in recent head wounds.

Skipper Stephen Dawson will miss out again - he saw a knee specialist in London in midweek - while Luke Williams and Niall Canavan remain the long-term absentees.

Ryan Kent and Marc-Antoine Fortune could make their Coventry debuts.

Liverpool midfielder Kent has joined on loan until January while Fortune has linked up with Sky Blues boss Tony Mowbray for a third time after playing under him at West Brom and Celtic.

James Maddison is still sidelined with an ankle injury, the reason why Mowbray has moved for Kent. while Aaron Phillips could return after illness.

Newcastle loanee Adam Armstrong is available after international duty along with Middlesbrough loanee Bryn Morris.
