Nolan missing for Scunny

Scunthorpe defender Eddie Nolan has joined the club's injured list and misses the home game against Cheltenham.

Nolan was forced out of last week's draw at Burton and scans have since confirmed a torn hamstring, which will rule him out for at least six weeks. He joins fellow right-back Christian Ribeiro (groin) on the sidelines.

Cliff Byrne, on loan from Oldham, is expected to start in Nolan's absence, but skipper Michael Collins (knee), striker Matt Godden and winger Andy Welsh (both knee) are all unavailable as Scunthorpe bid to make it eight games unbeaten at Glanford Park.

On-loan Huddersfield striker Jimmy Spencer is pushing for his first league start for the club and Chris Iwelumo is hoping for a recall.

Cheltenham's goal hero Jamie Cureton is pushing for a start.

The experienced striker stepped off the bench to score his 249th career goal late on as they beat AFC Wimbledon 1-0 on Saturday and he could get the nod as he searches for a milestone goal.

Troy Brown had been joining Cureton on the treatment table but has returned to action unscathed, but Craig Braham-Barrett's ankle injury means this match comes too soon for the former Macclesfield left-back.

Midfielder Jason Taylor played a crucial role in last weekend's victory and Mark Yates looks set to hand him another start as the Robins look for back-to-back wins to kick-start their campaign.
