Dawson ready for Iron return

Scunthorpe defender Andy Dawson is hoping to make his first appearance since November in the home game against Bristol Rovers.

Former Hull full-back Dawson had been sidelined with a hip injury, but returned to the bench as an unused substitute in Saturday's 5-1 home win over Portsmouth and could feature.

Teenage winger Hakeeb Adelakun, forced out of the action at the weekend due to cramp, is expected to be ready to go, but striker Deon Burton (calf) will be sidelined for a further four weeks.

Midfielder David Syers, who fired a hat-trick against Portsmouth, and defender David Mirfin both shook off groin strains in time for the weekend win, which lifted the Iron level on points with leaders Chesterfield.

Bristol Rovers look set to be without striker Matt Harrold once more when they travel to Scunthorpe.

The former Wycombe forward has been suffering with a knee injury which has ruled him out of their last two matches and he looks unlikely to return against the high-flying Iron, meaning Chris Beardsley will keep his place in the Rovers line-up.

Ollie Clarke made his return to action last weekend as a late substitute having recovered from an ankle problem and he will be involved again at Glanford Park.

Back-to-back wins have flung Rovers eight points clear of the relegation zone and they will be looking to cause another upset having beaten promotion hopefuls Burton 2-0 on Friday evening.
