McSheffrey in Iron frame

Scunthorpe's latest signing Gary McSheffrey could make his first appearance for the club in the home game against AFC Wimbledon.

McSheffrey provides boss Russ Wilcox with a selection conundrum as Paul Hayes scored twice last week in his first match since returning to Glanford Park as he partnered Sam Winnall in attack.

Another recent signing, Paddy Madden, stepped off the substitutes' bench for his first appearance last week and is hoping to make his full debut, while Deon Burton missed last week's win at Mansfield due to a calf injury and remains doubtful.

Defender Andy Dawson (hip), winger Andy Welsh (knee) and striker Matty Godden (ankle) remain sidelined, while Chris Iwelumo has been released.

Harry Pell returns to the AFC Wimbledon squad.

The midfielder missed last weekend's 2-0 home defeat by Torquay through illness and should go straight back into the starting XI.

Boss Neal Ardley could make further changes following their disappointing performance, with Alan Bennett and Luke Moore sweating on their places after they were hauled off at half-time.

New defender Aaron Morris, a late sub against the Gulls, could make his full debut but midfielder Peter Sweeney remains sidelined with a broken foot and full-back Jim Fenlon is still suspended.
