Scunthorpe turn to Daws

16 March 2011 13:30
Scunthorpe have appointed head of youth Tony Daws as caretaker manager. The 44-year-old, who spent six years at Glanford Park as a player, will take charge for Saturday's match against Ipswich following the departures of manager Ian Baraclough, assistant Kevin Pressman and coach Steve Parkin. Daws will be assisted by chief scout Lee Turnbull, who worked alongside Baraclough when the latter was first appointed. Daws has been a youth coach at Scunthorpe since 2005 and has also taken charge of the Iron's reserve team for the past five years. Baraclough was relieved of his duties following Tuesday night's 3-0 home defeat to bottom club Preston, which left the club four points from safety.
