Scunny boss hails Slocombe
The 21-year-old came off the bench to make his competitive entrance following an injury to Joe Murphy in the 23rd minute of the Iron's 2-0 win.
Adkins told the Scunthorpe Telegraph "I thought Sam was superb.
"He came and collected, he kicked good and he made sound decisions. He's a local lad on his debut and he made a couple of cracking saves towards the end. We're delighted.
"It just goes to show the good work (goalkeeping coach) Kevin Pressman is doing. We have confidence in him, we're trying to develop him.
"The good thing is Sam hasn't been overawed by the situation and that's really pleasing."
