Reid: The players do care

Paul Reid has denied accusations that the current squad do not care about relegation to League Two, and insists it 'hurts' to be returning to the basement.

When asked whether the players care about the Iron's current plight, Reid told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: “That’s the worst thing you could say about me. It’s the biggest insult you could give".

“We always knew it was going to be a tough ask to stay in the Championship but we shouldn’t be getting relegated from this division. That will hurt me.”

Reid is out of contract in the summer and it is unclear as to whether his future lies at Glanford Park

“I have no idea where I will be playing my football next year – whether it will be here or somewhere else.

“If it is somewhere else, I don’t want it on my record that I captained a club that got relegated."
