He featured in the 1-1 friendly draw with Kidderminster Harriers at the weekend and impressed Vale boss Micky Adams playing alongside fellow trialist Matty Doumbe.
Adams said: “I thought they both did really well, Reid got 90 minutes and Matty (Doumbe) got 60 minutes, he’s had very little training but showed his experience, both fitted into the squad very nicely."
Reid was released by Brian Laws at the end of last season.
